As a 17yrs old mid 80's my first car was a mk1 escorts, a step up to the xr2i first was the aim,never made it though.

I'm sure there was a pimped up Talbot Sunbeam for the boy racers...lol

I had two black XR3's and an XR2
The first XR3 was a Y reg and like the proverbial off a shovel, bought it from a dodgy geezer in Feltham for £450 and it was the best car i've ever had, wish i'd kept it now

My mate had a Fiesta XR2i - it was worth waiting for him to finish work to get a lift.

Has to be the Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 - the 16v Golf GTi was probably the only hatch to get anywhere close to it.

There was the Lotus variant - lovely soundtrack from those twin carbs and no slouch in its day..
