Chelsea linked with Evertons’ John Stones.

Everton defender John Stones is a summer transfer target for Premier League champions Chelsea, according to London Evening Standard.

Jose Mourinho’s side have reportedly earmarked the 20-year-old England international as an option as they start to prepare for life after captain John Terry.

Although Terry has been an ever-present in the league this season, the Blues want to plan ahead because their skipper will celebrate his 35th birthday next season.

An attempt for Stones is said to be likely if Mourinho fails to convince France international to leave Real Madrid to move to Stamford Bridge.

Stones still has three years to run on the contract he signed when he arrived at Goodison Park in a £3m transfer from Barnsley in 2013.

The Toffees would reportedly demand a fee of £20m to convince them to part company with their young centre-back.

Stones has also played at right-back and would provide extra cover for Mourinho at full-bac
