    Colclough

Agent just trying to get him a better deal at Crewe or seriously debating being on the move?

Really hope he stays as he's got the chance to be a quality player, and is already a good player to watch.

It's really disappointing to see this drag on though, the club have not only developed, nurtured him and given him his chance but also stuck by him during injurys , accusations and trouble. Never mind that his best chance of development is at Crewe you would hope he'd want to be a man about and it and show some loyalty.

Two court appearances and over 12 months out injured, do you really think anyone is going to swoop down and pay a fortune for him?

Sadly, there will always be someone who will take a chance on players with poor behavioural reputations. If the player is seen to be good at playing football they will convince themselves that they can change the players attitudes. And in some cases they can. But in most, I suspect that this is not the case.

Makes you wonder whether a truly repentant Lee Hughes, after prison, might have been a better bet than a player who may not be particularly repentant because he has been able to get off the charges brought against him.

Yet we wouldn't have touched Hughes with a bargepole.

The bone of contention is no doubt the contract that was taken off the table in the time leading up to the second trial. I don't see how the Alex can be blamed for this, but if he and his agent consider it to have been an insult, then what can we do?

In which case, good riddance to the lad, talented and unpredictable though he was.

What a shame we couldn't sue the player if he leaves for deliberately damaging his value by his own actions thereby causing the club a loss.
or just bill him for the training

He is obviously not that bothered to sign a contract here otherwise he would have done so by now. He quite rightly will see who will give him the best offer commensurate with getting games under his belt. Most clubs in this league pay up to 5 times what we do and so what would you do? Lots of really talented players are prone to go off the rails and George Best was a good example of that many decades ago.

The problem is all the free time footballers have on their hands and I would have them doing something in the community like promoting the club much more. Yet we still don't have a presence in the town centres and tbh who would really know we have a football club here unless they were long standing fans or family?

The club found itself between a rock and a hard place with this lad. He clearly has talent for all the world to see and to release him when he was having his 'problems' would have given us nothing back. It would have been completely wrong, I think, to have let him go when injured as we aren't that callous.

So we keep him and he now (or maybe his agent now) doesn't want to sign on. Given how poorly we pay our players (copyright MikeSB!), I would suggest that one year's salary is rather less than the compo we would get from his moving now; these things usually come with appearance clauses and sell on percentages so it was not only good for the player's development but also good business for us.

Would still rather he stayed and showed us his full potential, mind you.

    So Coco plays against Alsager.
Ok, not a big game but the fact that he played at all ...??
Do we read anything (positive) into that?

Doesn't mean anything. He is still a Crewe player at the minute whether he goes or not so either way would be expected to play.
