    Skippy

Great news, he has signed on for a year with option of a further year. On official site.
Much more confident that we will finish top 6.
Also arrival soon of keeper and centre midfielder.

Fantastic news. Still not convinced we're top six material but on paper we certainly now look more like a side finishing in the middle of the pack somewhere. - view external link

A good bit of business. Skippy will give us experience and mobility in linking midfield with attack. I'm becoming more confident of our prospects in the new season. Maybe not top 6 but hopefully clear of the relegation dogfight.

I would agree Im convinced though he will be the difference between being relegation battlers to comfortable bottom 6 operators. A bit like Thistle last year.

I also think he will be able to bring on the likes of Moult and Fletcher like he did with Irwin last season.

It’s good news and I particularly like the positive and warm way he talks about being at Motherwell. He clearly likes the club, and being here is not just seen as a pay packet at the end of the week. As well as his own contribution on the park (both striking and linking play), you have to think - as the blurb says on the MFC website - that he can help guys like Moore, Moult and Fletcher develop their ‘game savvy’.

Very pleased with this signing. As well as his undoubted ability he brings the right kind of attitude too.

Possibly. That'd certainly be an acceptable first step under Baraclough.

The keeper issue is still looming though, we've no idea if the defence will be more solid and central midfield will work hard for sure but remains a big question mark.

However, with Johnson, Ainsworth and McDonald we have three players who can clearly create/score goals at this level.

It's good to see Skippy sign on again and we've certainly got the potential to have a decent attacking force this season with him, Ainsworth and hopefully Clarkson, Fletcher and Moult too.

We need to sort out the defence and the goalkeeper position though as what we've currently got just won't do and we'll be looking at another long season and a relegation struggle otherwise so Baraclough has to address these areas of the team as part of his 'having a lot to prove' this season.

I don't see us adding more to the defence.

I think we're relying on Hammell left back, Laing and Kennedy fighting it out to be beside McManus in the middle, and Law starting at right back.

We've then got Chalmers and Reid, whenever he returns, as back-up, and the hope Watt kicks on this year.

Even if you count Watt as an U20 for now, that's seven guys for four spots - there won't be anyone else coming in.

If Hammell is fit we've upgraded left back hugely from last term. Law, in his real position, was at least reasonably solid though hardly especially impressive. The middle is the massive worry though - McManus can play well but didn't
