    Preston NE Game

An odd looking midfield tonight - Chalmers, Johnson, Lasley and Pearson. We would seem to have 3 left sided players in there. Who will play on the right?

Me neither. Certainly not paying for a friendly and most definately not travelling for it.

Club needs to get a grip.

Scott McDonald played in midfield and Marv played wide left, a good run out for the guys, think he is still undecided about his first 11.

Clearly you weren't at the game either. Marv played on the right wing, with Chalmers taking up the wider left midfield position.

Lots to be happy about, things shaping up nicely. Was a good game for a pre-season friendly. Moult really took his goal well, finishing superbly after a nice through ball from Leitch.

Losing is never that helpful, but we did put together some decent moves. I think we have the wherewithal to trouble most Scottish defences - we had Preston scrambling a few times.
I agree with the comment about the starting XI; I don't sense that IB has settled on it yet, but at least he has options for personnel and formation - not something we've had until recently.

Just watched the highlights on MFC TV. We seem to have played quite well and our late goal was well constructed and taken. However the 2 goals that we lost were very cheap - neither full back covered themselves in glory and our central midfield was posted missing at the second goal. Same problems as last season. We really have go to tighten up and hopefully we can bring in a new man to stiffen the midfield.

Yep clearly I wasn't at the game tonight I made a mistake you are 100% correct Marv played on the right not the left as I posted, however, the point I was really making was that MacDonald was playing in the middle of the park rather than as an out and out forward, this is my observation and was in reply to the original post which did not contain this fact, which incidentally you failed to mention when correcting me...one last point. Were you at the game? lol

Managed along last night at the last minute - was on the M6 20 mins from Preston when I got a call from my mate asking where I was!?
Was quite satisfied with the all round performance but the linkage between midfield and defence needs polishing - pretty rusty last night and no-one taking control. Pleasing though is the pace we now operate at in the last 2/3 rds of the pitch.
    PS
The M6 story was just a wee bit o banter on my part
