    re: Brighton impressions

Brighton fans are saying Ofoe was heads and shoulders above the rest of our team last night, looking forward to seeing him for the first time saturday.

Yeah, Ofoe was good but he's another lacking match fitness. He was puffing and blowing after about 30 minutes. Great cross for Derbyshire's early header though and almost waltzed thro the Brighton defence on his own before falling over to claim for a pen. He'll get better.

Maguire - missed most of pre-season. How can you not be fit by mid-September ?

Only been to the Fulham game and last night. I wasn't impressed with maguire or white. A foe looks good and will get better. Plus point for Brighton was that they have a disabled person as a liaison officer who took the time to go to speak to all the disabled Rotherham fans. "The only way is up" or are we doomed? I'm on the way up side.

So what makes Brighton who would have finished below us if we'd not had 3 points deducted, so much better than us? Did they recruit better and hang on to key players?

They have certainly recruited. Not sure how many but when you have players like Baldock, LuaLua, Murphy, Zamora, Tomar Hemed the Israeli International and signed Elvis Manu from PSV Eindhoven this year you can see why they might be slightly better than last year.

according to sky sports they spent 1.7 on murphy, 1.8 on Hünemeier. 1 million on hemed.
add to that the 4 undisclosed fees paid for manu, goldson, harper and hambo your prob pushing close on 6 million....

Q for the football purists. what have all these top clubs got in common with rotherham..

I think Brighton hanging onto Dale Stephens after Derby had tried to sign him for a couple of million in the close season was as important as all the new recruits. He's a class act and precisely the sort of player we could do with. £2M though.
