    Young Guns part 2

Saturday's result was a crushing disappointment but something good did happen for us . Four 18 year old boys started and all competed well in an intimidating atmosphere. I have to be honest and say that previous to this game Pickard had not impressed me but he dug in and showed intelligence not to dive in when yellow carded. Like to see these young guys carry it on now and give proper competition for places .

I'm might of mislead you JR . It was actually three 18 year olds who started on Saturday , Pickard , Smith & Marshall . They were joined by youngsters Hooper (20) , Harris (21) & Thomson (22) .
The average age of the starting 11 against Rangers was just over 23 years old & that went down to just under 22 years old once the three substitutes came on - Coogans (18) , Rutherford (19) & Oliver (20)

I thought youngsters Hooper , Marshall , Pickard & Thomsom were excellent along with former Rangers player Kyle Hutton . We nee

Thanks for that . Hooper , at twenty years of age then , should be really forcing his way through now . Still a youngster but old enough to not be considered a rookie. By the way, I am hearing another of the of Dean Brotherston is on the fringes of the squad and he is very, very quick indeed.

Heard Dean has been given the number 35 shirt, yes he's fast but he's got more going for him than speed alone, can play with both feet and off both wings, works back to support the defence, has a good delivery and also scores a few. The only surprise is that it took so long for Fowler to promote him and that others got promoted before him.

Deano is another great prospect for Queens and could do real damage in any match if brought on with 20 minutes to go.

Can I ask, how did Pickard do, I wasn't there on Saturday, had to go to a wedding (some people have no consideration)? How did Marshall do in that atmosphere? I must confess I thought Hooper would do Ok, he's always been pretty solid whenever I've seen him. Maybe with Dowie out, this is his big chance.
