[quote="AucklandRover"]There are so many threads, it's hard to know which one to reply on.
I thought both teams played well, although in very different roles. I can't believe we didn't convert at least one of those chances, but that has been a repeated theme.
Is that Bowyer's fault? I don't really see how it can be, because he is responsible for the formation and style, but not the finishing. (Except to those, of course, for whom refereeing mistakes and shots against the post are down to the manager!)
On statistics alone, the case for him to go is obvious, but we have actually played well over the last month or so (even for most of the MKD game, by all accounts). It now becomes a question of guesswork. JR/Saxo is arguing that enough is enough, but I tend to agree with Robin that the timing is wrong because almost everyone agrees that our general play has improved dramatically in recent weeks. If we add that to some rough refereeing decisions and sheer bad lu

I personally would give him November to improve things
if results are still stagnating bring a new manager in
he would have a month to access his team and if players need to be brought in then it's bye bye Rhodes in order to break the chain's of ffp.

Yeah, you would be better off getting Saxo for the job.

The problem as I see it is that if Gary Bowyer is left in charge too long, say past November with no improvement we will have run out of time to find a suitable successor.....I honestly dont believe Venkys have even looked for anyone else-I tend to agree with Dan they want a cut-price alternative or anyone who is cheap and cheerful....so we may be stuck with Mr.Bowyer. This is all well and good provided we dont get relegated, but as the other bottom teams will probably change managers with gay abandon I havent any great confidence he can keep us up.....

But, Bob, you're making the same assumption as Saxo - that ANY new manager IS guaranteed to keep us up. Why?

    re: last chance saloon again

Why? Because I dont think most managers could do any worse, given our actual squad with attendant good performances and appalling results.........maybe a bit like Liverpool replacing Brendan Rogers with Jurgen Klopp.

A new manager would have new ideas and on the law of averages would be more organised......most other clubs at the bottom of this division dont have a top striker like us.........and three half-reasonable goalies. Rightly or wrongly Gary Bowyer seems to get the very least out of his squad results wise(not performance -wise). That is why a change of direction is imperative.

Leave it a lot longer and we sleep-walk into relegation.

I am right aren't I aucks? You would retain bowyer come what may..? Your views are flawed as if it was up to you we'd have never replaced Paul ince with sam. Are you suggesting that Sam didn't do anything that ince wouldn't have..?

JR/Saxo - you are sometimes guilty of not reading what other people have actually written. I clearly stated that two more losses might well mean the end for GB. As BobC says, it is ultimately a results business, and - on that basis - Bowyer is lucky to have survived this long.
In other respects, though, I don't feel he has been a disaster. He has brought stability and dignity back to the club. He has been quite clever with his signings and retention-policy. He has definitely retained the players' faith - despite all kinds of unsubstantiated rumours to the contrary. Another positive is that we have actually PLAYED well in the last month or so.
I accept Bob's point that you can't just keep on waiti
