So you think it's funny that people in Cumbria are being evacuated out of their flooded houses with young children in their arms as the rivers burst its banks whilst you are sat there in front of your Christmas tree With a warm fire and drinking beer etc.. I suppose that's southern mentality for you though.. Shame on you Tricky and you have the temerity to call me at times for being a heartless cont.

I'll just copy what I put on the Cambridge board.

"I was in Cockermouth in the morning and it was obvious it was just going to get worse, especially as I've since heard that they opened a sluice gate up at one of the lakes, in the full knowledge that it would result in Cockermouth and Workington flooding - which is exactly what happened. My nephew was flooded out in Workington. We only just got back into the village as all the roads were rivers flowing between lakes. Meanwhile, the Government is spending billions helping Lononers get from one side of the city to the other more quickly and millions planning a new high-speed rail link which will help people commute from Birmingham to London more quickly. The theory is that if you support London the benefits trickle (arf) down to the rest of us, except that it doesn't. Cumbria has dreadful public transport, flood defences that don't work, schools in special measures, shocking hospitals but, hey, why worry, it's pretty to look at, isn't

Oh we have another keyboard warrior in griff.
I was making a light hearted joke aimed at Alf as we banter each other about Southern/ Northern softies. So you call me a *bleep* if you want.
I shall keep my opinion of you to myself.

There's no contest Tricky. But post that on an open board and it's no longer a closed topic between you and Alf.
