    Historical Record Approaching

I had a look at our league history and see that we are (possibly) approaching a landmark.
I have added up all the league records but saw that the leagues that were played either side of WW2 did not have any promotion or relegation.
In 1939/40 there was a regionalised league held, which does not show up in the SPFL records.
After the war there was an official league held in 1945/46 but again, there was no promotion or relegation at the end of that season. The following year promotion and relegation came back into being and the leagues continued as normal thereafter.
Because there was no promotion or relegation in either of these seasons I have not counted these results in our overall league record and have discovered that we have now (before the QP game later) scored a total of 4994 goals, 6 away from our 5000th.
It is not my decision to make as to whether this would "officially" be our 5000th league goal, thus not counting the goals scored in the 2 "war" seasons where competi

For the record. Our overall totals, not counting the two seasons as above reads

    Home
    Games 1573
    Wins 761
    Draws 355
    Lost 457
    For 2910
    Against 2156
    Points 2033

    Away
    Games 1573
    Wins 420
    Draws 332
    Lost 821
    For 2084
    Against 3112
    Points 1298

    Overall
    Games 3146
    Wins 1181
    Draws 687
    Lost 1278
    For 4994
    Against 5268
    Points 3331

If points had always been 3 for a win then our points total would be 4215.

We joined the league in season 1921/22 and this is our 88th season (not counting the 2 war ones). Our average position in the Scottish leagues is 27th (27.2). We have had 9 seasons in the top flight in its many guises. In season 1938/39 we finished 17th in a top flight of 20, thus avoiding relegation. The following year the leagues were regionalised due to the war. When the leagues started up again in 1945/46 (the one I dont count) and the following season, we were placed in the second t

It would be fitting if Bobby Linn were to score the 5,000th goal at Gayfield on Saturday and go on to score many more for the Liichties.

Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2016 to all Lichties where ever they may be.

Next goal is the 5000th. Hopefully on Saturday along with 3 points. Agree Bobby Linn would be fitting as it would be for it to be at Gayfield.
    Merry Christmas Lichties.
