    "Derby...best in Division": Mick McCarthy

The kind of reverse psychology you would expect from the wiley old fox.

I have enormous respect for MM quite simply because he gets every last drop out of average players and his teams always punch above their weight. I'm not expecting anything from today's game...I remember too well the home defeat of 3 seasons ago (or was it 4) when they put ten bodies across their back line then scored the winner in the 97th minute...daylight robbery.

Wouldn't be surprised if that repeats itself today. And I do a cracking Mick McCarthy impersonation too. - view external link

At this level, McCarthy is a quality manager. As you say, he's manages to get the best out of very average players. This Ipswich side is mainly made up of players that have had potential but never fulfilled and otherwise failed. But MM brings out whatever talents these players have left. When you mix that in with McCarthy's knowledge of how to organise a team defensively, you get a team capable of promotion.

Now he just needs to try and sort out his record in the Premier League, if he ever gets the chance...

When at wolves £ for £ he got the best results in the PL. it only fell apart when they got silly and started diverting funds for stands they didn't need!

Thats always been tha case with Wolves - I remember them building what was then a massive stand one end (in 70s) which virtually bankrupted them.

Ah classic mind games, it will be a tough game, but Ispwich have been poor at home and have yet to get a win against a team in the top half, if we get the first goal then I can see us winning, but a draw is most likely.

Yes, the data suggests an away win...but that ignores the MM added value...Ipswich won't need any motivating today. PC has to get the team's approach just right...it will be a scrap so need Thorne to start and I think Martin more suited to this game than Bent. Bare knuckled fight for 95% of the game, and a moment of quality will be the difference. Maybe a set-piece will do it. But from which side?

Brian Clough also had the knack of getting the best out of very average players by getting them to play to their strengths. Gladys Hinton's left foot springs to mind.

That's quite correct Awk...Florist were nothing more than a decent pub side when you won your cup all those years ago.

MacCarthy is a decent manager nothing more , but he also moans a lot and puts more pressure than most on referees during the match.

Karanka might argue that with Borough 3 up at Brighton
