    Colchester game

This squad should be able to see off Colchester, a team that is struggling badly, given that a positive reaction to the Blackpool debacle and Robins departure should be inevitable.

With Peter Swann telling Daws and Dawson that he expects attacking football at the very least, I would be surprised if we don't finally go to 4-4-2. That should mean a start for Hakeeb (let's hope he's in the mood) and also possibly Townsend on the left. Just a choice between van Veen or Henderson to partner Madden up front. I'm not sure whether they will risk putting Hopper on the bench yet or give him another week.

Hopefully with the shackles off we will see what this lot can really do.

    re: Colchester game

We stuck with 4-3-3 in the end but have to be pleased with the result. Like most in the ground I wasn't happy after a first half performance which was every bit as bad as we had produced under Robins. The first goal lifted the pressure and we started to move the ball more quickly and actually find our own men with passes. You have to admit than Colchester, who had outplayed us in the first 45, went to pieces after conceding. Barring a miracle they will get relegated this season.

Far too early to make a judgement on the management team especially considering the abject opposition. The next few games will be a better test of their mettle.

Things do look more promising with the recent additions of Wallace and Townsend and the return of Hopper who were arguably our best three players today. The midfield still looks a problem with Dawson, Bishop and Ness too similar. Ness and Bishop both had stinkers in the first half but thankfully improved. Townsend was streets ahead of Laird and Ho
