    New season

The SPFL have announced that the start date for the next league campaign will be 6 August. That will follow the four round robin league cup matches in July.

Anyone waking up from a comma from the 70s will be pleased to see how much the game has changed...Meaningless league cup mini leagues dressed up as innovation to kick off the season and talk of league reconstruction to improve standard of players and games....

Must admit Stevie I hate friendlies and never go to them so 4 league cup games even though a couple will be against lower league clubs is a lot more appealing to me than a friendly and being a Well fan to be guaranteed at least 4 cup games a season is a bonus ????

Couldn't agree more Steviex. Collective amnesia, particularly league reconstruction. Let's bring back loads of meaningless games that hardly anyone went to see. Nobody seems to remember why we reconstructed the leagues before. The split and playoffs are by no means perfect but does keep interest in games to the end of the season.

The pre season Friendlies are not replaced by this backward move they are merely moved forward. So nowt had changed as regards boring pre season friendlies we have merely squeezed boring meaningless league cup games in between them and season kick off.

Would have to say league reconstruction is all about individual opinions from a personal point of view I am getting totally bored playing teams anything up to five times in a season. The league cup next season could mean playing a team six times totally nothing to be gained from that with regard to entertainment and enjoyment.Go back to 14/16 team league with bottom two automatically relegated with third bottom in a playoff with either third, fourth or fifth team in Championship with top two teams in Championship automatically promoted

So you'd get excited about playing Raith / Qos / Falkirk 3/4 times a season cos thats all that league reconstruction offers. Theres no way we are going to any format that means two games against each teams. Having 14 / 16 teams will have some sort of split so we will just play more teams as often. Its horse *bleep* being dressed up as aftershave. Leave the leagues alone no reconstruction has ever del

    re: New season

Sorry Steviex but as I said its all about personal opinion and I feel playing teams like Falkirk/Raith/Qos would bring a freshness to fixtures rather like in previous seasons playing St.Mirren/Hamilton/Kilmarnock.where we have played them so many times that it has become boring, dull and stagnant football.
