    O/T Facial recognition

Glad to see so many fans letting the SPFL know what they think of their facial recognition idea at the weekend
What a ridiculous idea . It'll just be another way of driving some fans away from our game .
There's also no chance the Scottish Government will fund the £4,000,000 for the scheme

I wonder if they'll ever come up with an idea to try and attract fans back through the gates ?

Haven't examined this matter in depth so difficult to comment.

What I do know is that, throughout Scottish football, there is an ugly, moronic minority trying to impose themselves and in so doing are only succeeding to damage the Clubs they have chosen to follow.

These little self-styled groups are popping up all over the place but in no way can they be classed as supporters. They are sad individuals seeking attention through their anti-social and self-indulgent behaviour and care not about the consequences for the Clubs they claim to 'support'.

We have witnessed it at Palmerston last season - the response from the decent majority at the Falkirk game in April was spot on - Livingston have experienced it just there on Saturday and Hearts have had ongoing issues with their lot.

Great to see Ann Budge not mincing her words last week - they have ultimately cost Hearts money that could have been better spent elsewhere, like players. You cannot be a real supporter when your ac

In terms of football violence , there's very little compared to the late 70's 80's and early 90's .
The main problem these days seems to be pyrotechnics but that's not unique in Scotland . It goes on every weekend throughout Europe
The one good thing certain groups of supporters bring to games is an atmosphere . Something that's been notabibly missing at places like Palmerston recently .
Encouraging and making fans welcome at football grounds should be a priority not scaring them away

Everyone welcomes a bit of atmosphere but you can't have it at all costs.

Recent behaviour at various football grounds has been totally unacceptable. Those attending - and the majority do - need to realise they cannot just do what they like.

Their behaviour does the opposite of what you quite rightly state in the last line of your post.

How do you explain bigger crowds in the past when there was more football violence occurring?

I don't think there is one simple answer to this as there are a whole bunch of contributing factors to why the number of fans attending football games has declined from the days of packed stadiums.

    -The prices of tickets
-Potentially people going just for the violence?
-Mass change of society where some individuals work life balance can become non existent (working weekends)
-No conscious effort of the need to be innovative and dynamic in the way that clubs operate (It worked in the 60's 70's & 80's surely it works now...Engage the fans!)
-Football to some is now seen as a product. When you are spending a lot of money, you want to see the best product. This leads on to the fact that TV has now completely taken over. The predictability of 3.00pm kick-offs has gone (although basically remains the same for us). People will choose to support and watch the big clubs on television rather than go watch their local side.

I guess until the footballing governing bodies and local/nati
