[quote="Corkhead"]Well the Scummer seems to have lost interest in his game so let's have a run-down of the scores.

    1. The "Legendary"Ted Bates statue. What Happens Next? Soon after it's unveiling to a fanfare of trumpets it is quietly dismantled and sold off for scrap. "Hilarious".

2.Ali Dia. WHN? Substitued. Dia was signed by Southampton manager Graeme Souness, after Souness received a phone call purporting to be from Liberian international and former FIFA World Player of the Year, George Weah. "Weah" told Souness that Dia was his cousin, had played for Paris Saint-Germain, and had played 13 times for his country. None of this was actually true, and the phone call to Souness was made by a fellow university student of Dia's, suggesting that he should give Dia a chance with Southampton. Souness was convinced, and without any due diligence, Dia was signed on a one-month contract. Embarrassingly "mirthful".

The Mandaric statue episode was hilarious.
The Ali Dia thing is still talked about and the subject of pub quizzes to this day. You have to admire that kind cheek. Mirthful.
Matt Le Tissier will always be a Saint and a role model despite his failings. He would probably laugh at them also.
The Redknapp thing, well, not really funny at the time but subsequently it seems that his legacy remains more prevalent in the present day PFC than in the Saints'.. He is after all a freeman of your city despite his extravagance and betrayals. You still think of him as an arse whilst to us he's an irrelevance. That's really funny.
As for the trophy thing. Well I watched Saints lift the JPT trophy at Wembley. That's funny too.

Loving this thread btw. About time s

Too late Kernow - entries are closed.

However in order to be polite we finished 8th in the league and won the FA Cup.

"Ah the old Scum selective memory trick.." said Corky.
Not an exclusive trait it seems.

    Hmmm.

We finished 9th in the first full season with Gaydamak in charge and were 8th in the league and cup winners the following season. On the other hand you had several seasons of relegation and lower league football after Redknapp took over.

But please dont feel that you have to let what actually happened stand in the way of making your point.

No of course not. Redknapp's was a disastrous appointment and the consequences set the club back ten years.
You won the cup when the idiot son was in charge. What happened next and subsequent events have resulted in present day reality, fair ?.
The point, if there was one to be made, was that to an observer it seems that financial control walked out the door with Milan.
