1-0 down at halftime thanks to a Stevie Mallan junior free kick
Written in the stars that auld Marvo Mallan's son of the same would score the winner today !
No way we deserved to lose that today but I have seen this situation on more than one occasion . I said as soon as St.Mirren were - wrongly- awarded the free kick that young Mallan would step up and score and that he did with a blistering direct free kick. Jamie Langfield had an inspired game unfortunately and one save from a Russell effort was special. He even saved a Kidd low cross cum shot with his legs without knowing much about it. At this point you kind of get the feeling that this is not your day. Pickard had another fine game I thought but the ref didn't ( for both teams) . After this frustrsting day it would be extra sweet to beat them next Saturday. St Mirren now buiding a bit of momentum and will be starting to fancy fourth spot.
Saints are certainties for 4th.
We need to start looking at the squad and building for next season. Its time to see who is staying and who will be released and which youngsters will be part of the first team set up next season. This campaign has been a bit of a non event for me, uninspiring performances, a lack of excitement and a total lack of positive attacking football. I'm looking for a few more positive displays between now and the season end or season ticket renewal will not happen.
Don't hold your breath musky, maybe someone will pipe up at the AGM that the majority of fans aren't happy with the performances which are too negative and boring.
Only 6 points covering teams from 4th to 8th place now which makes it an interesting run - in for the play - off position
but totally agree with Musky the season has been a stop / start non event and the next 4 games look very difficult to
pick up points - Saints, Rangers, Falkirk (a) and Hibs
If we keep playing the same way we will not finish 4th, if we start playing more attacking football we still might not finish 4th but the fans will have something to shout about.
Saints are not certainties for fourth . At this moment , we along with Raith and Morton are still ahead of them. I just said that they will fancy it now .
