Wigan Athletic Agree Deal for Bolton Training Facilities....

Reports on Tuesday suggest Wigan Athletic have agreed a deal to purchase Bolton Wanderers' Euxton training facilities for £2.2m.

Wanderers, who are also said to be in advanced takeover talks with billionaire Roger Tamraz, are due in court next Monday over unpaid VAT and PAYE tax bills amounting to more than £3million and have been forced into selling assets including car parking land at Macron Stadium to make ends meet over recent months.

The Trotters have explored the possibility of selling their training base for a number of years and interest began to mount in December, when Preston North End officials visited the site of the former Chorley Royal Ordnance Factory.

Wigan registered their own interest in January, after plans to redevelop Charnock Richard Golf Club hit a stumbling block.

Wanderers will move first-team training to their academy facilities in Lostock.

So according to BBC Sport, this has happened now. On a related note, it's strange to think of Wigan as a League One club. Then again, as we are sadly discovering, it's so much easier to slide down the leagues than to climb up them!
