Went for a point, damage limitation by packing midfield.
Almost worked apart from an awful error.
We could have played 3 up front and still wouldn't score we're creating very few chances.
    Roll on Saturday v Brentford

I'd never play i upfront, except for unusual circumstances. To play 1 on his own you need a CF with exceptional ball control and a strong physical presence to kill the ball then lay it off to men surging forward, right and left.

1 man is easy pickings, 2 is a threat. Since Evans arrived all of our CFs have either been rubbish or immediately confined to the sick bay for month after month then forgotten about.

Becchio was a calamitous signing and clear proof that Evans was telling one of his numerous lies by saying he personally checked and double checked every signing in order to ensure the said player would greatly improve the team. Redfearn fell into the same trap when he brought Becchio back with the same results and the same waste of money.

We obviously don't have top quality strikers, but we can't be hoping to keep games tight like that (go for a draw/try to win 1-0). It never works and we just have to go for it. Attack from the start in games instead of defensive. Alright, it may leave us open to big defeats against certain teams but play with an attacking formation and it may give us a better chance of getting the many wins we are going to need!

The manager's must think that one player needed to score a goal, being you can only score one at a time.

Mentioned this before, if you look at Blackwell's tactics when he was at the Blades he set teams up to not lose the game. When It'd conceded the first goal then there was no plan B. He was widely criticised for it by Blades fans at the time.

Does it really matter? D Ward, Derbyshire, JCH, Becchio, Best... Any one of them up front, two up front in any permutation, end result is the same. We have the worst set of 'strikers' with the worst injury record in the Championship, with no realistic expectation that they'd do any better in League 1. We've needed a goalscorer (or two) for years, Agard's success was way beyond anybody's expectations, Derbyshire sparked into life for a few weeks last season, beyond that... Utter frustration.

I have always hated one up front but can see why we use it sometimes.

If midfield put a spring in their step and help the lone striker then yes it can be useful but they don't or haven't as yet
