    re: England, and Euro 2016

We dont want to finish 3rd because that I think will mean either Germany or Spain in the next round. If we finish 2nd then that will surely mean either Austria or Hungary, and that would be winnable!! If we win our group, then that will mean we play a 3rd place team from one of three other groups. This 3rd place thing is stupid, it over complicates things.

Best person to discuss England's chances are with Rammy, he is fanaticall about them and rarely misses a match, as you probably know he has this ritual of watching them in Edna's garden shed on his old black and white TV. When we occasionally meet up I have to be careful not to mention the England football team as he goes on and on about them, he drives me nuts LOL. I think it is because Derby and England play in the same colours? He has this silly game where he pretends he never watches them and isn't interested in England, that does make me laugh and I don't really understand why he does it LOL, I humour the silly old fool. Anyway if you are interested in the national team Rammy is the man to talk to, his knowledge of football is second to none!

If France win it this year I hope there wont be talk about bungs and bribery again, it would be nice to have a 'clean' tournament where the footy does all the talking.
Now that Blatter & Platini have gone, it angers me to think just what actually went on there for France to be able to win the WCup as hosts in '98. But sadly it goes back a lot further than that, former Fifa presidant Joao Havelange claims that it was also fixed for both England and W.Germany to win as hosts in '66 & '74. And it absolutely stank of bribery and corruption when Argentina and their military regime did the same in '78. (remember they needed a 4 goal win in their final group game, and it was appalling how Peru just turned up on the day and didnt care, it ended 6-0. Ohh and where was the Peru keeper born ?, yes it was in Argentina )

Come on England I will be in my cabin, beer in hand, watching every kick of the ball when you play your game.

I will be watching Escape to Victory
