OT Cinema given top billing in Rotherham masterplan

Eight "key moves" have been identified to continue the regeneration of Rotherham town centre in a draft updated masterplan, published this week. And bringing a cinema and leisure development to Forge Island is first on the list. - view external link

Let's hope so. So long as the council isn't paying massively over the odds to entice someone here, we have needed a cinema for years, and a larger music venue. Apart from Wilkos, everything Corporation Street side of town seems to have closed or moved (Link Wrays etc ) closer to new Tescos

Last year, Sir Derek Myers, lead commissioner at Rotherham Council admitted that "Rotherham town centre could have a cinema in a matter of months. To make it happen it would cost the council around £750,000 a year, as operators tell us that a cinema is not financially viable."
