Charlton recorded an excellent home win against Middlesbrough, 2nd in the league, at the same time as keeping a clean sheet and this was achieved as the players kept their composure in front of pitch distractions, invasions and unnecessary behaviour in front of the TV cameras designed to unsettle them.

Jorge Teixeira scored with a well placed header from Johann Gudmundsson’s corner on 57 minutes. The second goal was scored on 80 minutes just after a group of protesters left the rest of us fans to support the team when Harriott fired in from close range after some good build-up play from Gudmundsson.

Boro tried to get themselves back into the game in the last 10 minutes but Charlton held out defensively with Pope making some good routine saves throughout the game and the combination of hard work from players such as Captain Cousins, Lookman, Harriott, Teixeira and Diarra all proving their worth.
