    Ainsworth's strike defeats Hearts

A comfortabe win that should have been even more clear cut.

After all the ups and downs this season it turns out that we're not too bad after all! - view external link

On what I saw today Hearts look a very overrated and dirty team.Thought everyone of our players gave their all.Must give special mention to Skippy who I thought was outstanding in the middle of the park and Moult who must have covered every blade of grass we certainly looked a different team now that the the pressure is off and the worry of play offs etc has disappeared. All credit to manager, back room staff and the players

Thought it was quite an entertaining game. Winning margin should have been more but you cannae gripe with 7 wins out last nine.

Absolutely not. Nine games is just shy of a quarter of the season so a decent chunk - if you gather points at the same rate as we have in that spell over a whole campaign, you end up with 88-89, a mind-boggling amount for us which would even have landed a couple of titles in recent years.

That's clearly not going to happen over a whole season but it gives some perspective of just how good our recent run has been - fair play to all involved.

And the much-maligned board, who rightly took it in the neck for appointing Baraclough, deserve their share of the praise for McGhee now.

Can't disagree with any of the above. What an amazing turnaround in a few weeks! That said, I thought the 'referee' Dallas was dire today (is he related to the other Dallas? ...another eejit). He and his assistants managed to miss most of the (very physical and dirty) Hearts tugs, shoves, nudges and blocks .... but still managed to book Hammell and Cadden for next to nothing! In reports so far little mention of how positive and energetic 'Well were just that the Tarts were 'disappointing' (geeza break Sportsound!) Sorry that's beginning to sound like an Ugly Sisters/Bigot Brothers paranoid rant!!! Well done Magoo, staff and, of course, the players.

A good and indeed thoroughly deserved win today although it could and should have been far more convincing. I thought McManus was a standout in the middle of the defence and Cadden and MacDonald had decent games. Overall though I didn't think the midfield and attack was quite right but they can be forgiven given the injuries to Law and Lasley. Samson had a deecnt game in goals and it'll be interesting to see whether he replaces the departing Ripley in goals next season. We sat back a bit too deeply in the second half and it wasn't great to watch but Hearts proved to be pretty toothless. Jack Leitch did little to convince us that he should be given a longer contract and was pretty anonymous.

Andrew Dallas had a poor game riddled by inconsistency in dealing with similar fouls and both Hammell and Cadden can count themselves unlucky to have been yellow carded given what went unpunished. Onwards and upwards though.

Hammell could have no complaints, the tackle was miles late and cut short a promising attack. It was the easiest yellow card decision a referee could hope for. Cadden on the other hand was incredibly harshly treated.

He could and whats more he voiced them to the referee. In itself, it was a yellow card so fair enough. However mere minutes later a Hearts player committed an almost identical foul and escaped punishment. Why? Hammell was not slow to point this out to the referee but we don't know what his answer was.
