Can Mel or any other Football owner really win!!!
I was reading an article about Mike Ashley, spent around £500 million on buying the club and on transfers since taking over Newcastle and they're now in the Championship!
All that cash spent on trying to improve the club, failed and now the supporters hate the poor bloke!!!
Just think the next time Mel makes some kind of deal for Derby, Beit player, manager extra staff, he's only trying to push the club forward so lets get behind him!
I will do unless I think it is a stupid decision
whatever he does someone will argue with it.

One only has to look at the owners of Cardiff, Forest and Newcastle to see how possibly well intentioned owners have pumped in money made strange or even ludicrous decisions - change shirt colour, appoint your mates as director of football or McClaren as manager to know that one of the worst things that can happen t

I think Mel needs to look at Newcastle and understand that is not how to do it - and Mel's currently treading the same path as Ashley.Originally Posted by Manofpride
Ashley is a successful businessman and has tried to impose a more 'businesslike' model onto the football management side of the club. Mel and Ashley's logic runs that it is too precarious to allow a single man (the manager) to dictate everything because it all collapses when they leave and they might not be
Well, there are enough examples out there to show what they are getting themselves into. Anyone who buys a football club deserves everything they get - be that good or bad.
I don't quite understand what Mels strategy is, so I can't really say I think he is following the Mike Ashley path which has ended (temporarily at least) in disappointment. As You say BaaLocks these very wealthy people know what they are getting into. Trying to buy success in sport is sometimes successful, but not always. Judging by the rate of wealthy entrepreneur take overs, there will be disappointment, as there are only 20 teams in the PL and probably another dozen or so who justifiably think they should also be in the top flight.
