I don't agree with seeding in any sport, it is in effect manipulation to pockle favored sports stars / teams to the later stages if you are good enough you don't need seeding. The World Cup is one of the most predictable snore bores because of seeding. Same teams same countries in later stages.

Agreed, seeding came into being in Scottish Cup 'coincidently' after Rangers old firm bummed out to lower league clubs circa the late 1960's and ensues the usual doomsday cries from the media and their fans we were robbed, solution arose the current format of so called big clubs entering the draw at the latter stages.

Not sure how the seeding for this draw is supposed to work. Looks to me that 7 groups have 1 Premier League team (the seeded team) plus 4 other teams not in the Premier League. Whether or not you agree with the notion of seeding - that appears to an advantage given to those seeded teams. But, clearly there is one group with 2 Premier League teams - Motherwell & Rangers with 3 other teams. How is the purpose/benefit of seeding being applied here? It seems either or both these 2 teams are at a disadvantage over their peers seeded in the other groups. You cannot assume the 2nd placed team in this group will still be likely to move into the next round based on the assumption of easily beating the other 3 teams given the spots for runners up are in competition from groups with 4 "easier" teams. If they can't apply seeding equally why bother at all. Clearly Motherwell have no advantage offered to them as a "seed". Not that this competition counts for much other than a warmup but if there i

Surely you are referring to the League Cup.
Scottish Cup has always been as open as you could hope it to be, enhanced by the inclusion of the 4 best junior clubs, making the path to a totally open last 32 draw very interesting for many clubs.
The league cup has been seeded for years.

The same thing happened to us a couple of years ago under the old format. We were drawn to Play Accies away in a straight knockout game. We were seeded and they were unseeded having won the play off. However we were both SPL teams at the time.

In old league cup format half seeded teams were away and half at home all way through to quarters then open draw might be same this time with 4 top seeds and 4 second seeds at home in the games between 1 and 2

But the question remains why are the rules not public knowledge why are we all guessing what the criteria of a draw should be AFTER the draw has been made.
