A touch more groundbait in the margins. Not too much…
We (Hodgeson and co) have made a BIG boo-boo.
How on earth can we not pick Drinkwater, a great all rounder, and we have no one else like him.
AND
with Smalling (awful player) at the back and no natural leader......
We wont be there long.
PITY.
my flights strangely coincide with 2 of the first 3 games - NO LOSS.

Smalling is decent, had 2 good seasons, didn't concede many this year, easily England's best centre back. That however is damning with faint praise.
I actually agree with no Drinkwater. He is a sitting, defensive midfielder while the others picked in Midfield offer more variation in formations. Wilshire and Henderson can both sit or play as box to box players. Drinkwater would limit our options.
Townsend on the other hand should have been picked as we have no other out and out wingers in the squad, again limiting our options.
I like Townsend as well.
I've been lambasted on here in the past for my praise of Townsend. He's quick, works hard, direct and shoots on sight. Sterling is our out and out winger and Milner can play there. Roy has hedged in a number of positions with versatile players. If Smalling is the best we have then we have big problems. Did anyone watch that last game at Upton Park, he was ran ragged all night.
He was - totally slaughtered.
Henderson is a very ordinary player who's recovering from injury. Wilshire just isn't match fit and has no form this season to base his selection on. He's not set the world on fire in previous performances for England. For that reason Drinkwater who is form player with proven fitness should be in the squad. It was Hodgson that said he would be picking players based on 'form & fitness' ......what's changed his mind???Originally Posted by Beardyram
Wilshere should not have made the 26 and I'm a big fan of his.
