    Euro 2016 Prediction League

    Euro 2016 Prediction League

The 2016 European Championships kick off on June 10th and, by popular(ish) demand, there will be a corresponding PL competition and, as ever, all are more than welcome to play - the more diverse the merrier!

The "official" home for this competition is the Leeds United Mad website, but it may also appear on the Derby Mad, Leeds United Chat and Regdafish sites.

The format of the competition is simple in its, errrr, simplicity...

Fixtures will be posted according to the day on which they are scheduled to be played.

For the purposes of this competition, the first listed team is the "home" side, the second is the "away" side.

    For the Group Stage

Your job is to predict the finishing scoreline for each fixture at the end of the regulation ninety minutes PRIOR to the game kicking off.

If you predict the correct outcome (e.g. you predict a 2-1 home win and the home team wins 4-1), you score three points.

If you predict the exact scoreline (i.e. if you had predicted a 4-1 home win in the game above) you pick up an additional three points.

No points will be awarded in the event of an incorrect outcome or a late/missed prediction.

There are therefore six points potentially available for each Group Stage fixture.

    For the Knock-out Stage

As with the Group Stage, your initial job is to predict the finishing scoreline for each fixture at the end of the regulation ninety minutes PRIOR to the games kicking off, with scoring mirroring that of the Group stage.

In addition to the regulation ninety minute scoreline, you should also predict which team will be deemed the official winner of the match. This is especially relevant if you have predicted a "regulation" draw.

This need not logically correspond with any "regulation" scoreline prediction (although it will be assumed to be the same, unless explicitly stated otherwise).

If you correctly predict the winning team, you score three bonus points.

No bonus points will be awarded in the event of a late or missed prediction.

There are therefore nine points potentially available for each Knock-out Stage fixture.

Once the daily matches conclude, the results of the predictions will be posted as a league table.

The poster with the most points after the final fixture will be deemed the winner and will get a shiny new trophy to metaphorically or literally wave in front of their chums and foes.

    Easy, eh?

    Okay, here's some fine print:-

This is a FREE competition and ALL are eligible to enter.

Unless advised to the contrary, there will be fixtures listed for EVERY game on a daily basis up until the final.

Postponed or abandoned fixtures will not count for scoring purposes.

New posters are allowed to join at any time from zero points.

If you still have any questions (well done for reading this far!), please feel to fire away and I'll help if I can!

I hope to see old and new faces alike.

The first set of fixtures will be in a thread entitled "Euro 2016 PL - Opening fixtures for 10/6/16".

I hope this little side-show managed to amuse, wherever you (or your team) happened to have finished.

Congratulations to Harry - our Euro 2016 PL Champion.

A suitably cheesy trophy will be winging its way to you as soon as possible.

Don't forget, the regular 2016/17 PL is coming soon......
