I get what your saying, however, it was that buffoon Cameron who got us in this mess, first by calling a referendum to sort out the Tories infighting, then by making such a poor case for remain and of course for not setting a minimum requirement on the majorit.

Yes 52% is far too small a majority to decide such an important decision which will have a fundamental impact on this country and not ina good way, but thems were the rules and we have to accept that.

However, the terms of the deal for Brexit were NOT the subject of the referendum and those must be whats in the national interest. My belif is that for all May's bluster, and the apparent assurances given to Nissan point to this, plus the fact that the reality of needing migrant workers to keep our economy and services operating means we will end up with some sort of fudge..there simply is no way we can maintain the economy without, the government know this, the EU knows this, its just some people don't!!

Agree with every word of that Swale, beyond that, the only small disagreement we have is over the 37%. I am just sick and tired of self righteousness pricks like Johnson, Farage and Duncan Smith defending Brexit - and their own positions - by saying things like 'it's very clear...the Great British public have spoken', 'we have to respect the will of the people', 'we cannot ignore the voice of the people'. 37% of the electorate is not 'the Great British Public', nothing is 'very clear' and certainly not the 'will or voice of the people'.

it'll be interesting to see what effect if any, Trump's victory has on brexit. He has always strongly backed brexit as opposed to Obhama's back of the queue stance. If the USA strongly back brexit, will that help in our negotiations with the eu?

Or being a politician, will he conveniently forget?

I expect it will ahve no effect whatsoever, Trump's idea of free trade is one way, American exports OK, foreign imports no way!! Not that we have very much the yanks want to buy off us anyway, whereas we seem to be spending billions on military equipment!

Some more stats for those still clinging on to the proportionate rhetoric...

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...-10237410.html

The problem with a system, is that it is only fair when it suits your argument. Taking the number of votes stance, is it really fair that UKIP only have 1 seat?

For those on phones who can't click the link, in the last election, under a proportional system, UKIP should have had 82 seats, with the 3rd largest vote, yet only got 1 under our system.

You can't have it both ways fellas!
