For around 200k too. Very surprising. Be a joke if we don't go in for him at that price.

Maybe he's a new target following the pending change in financial circumstances with Adams leaving.

He better not go to MK Dons.

After they f**cked us over with McFadzean hopefully their interest will give us extra motivation to sign him.

The Mitchell factor already paying off? be a great signing, id play him instead of Basham. Midfield pair of Morsy and Fleck is a enough to make your mouth water.

Nixon also said Chancer is getting nervous about FFP

We are so far out of touch with what's going on in the Championship its a genuine concern. the bottom end of the league are spending big in order to stay up, like clubs were doing in the PL. Rotherham for example spending 1.5m on Gregory, Barnsley are spending a lot, in fairness Stones will leave Everton at some point so the dingles are set. but the money at the top is getting ridiculous, 2/3 years ago the money them lot have spent would have guaranteed promotion, but now its not enough to guarantee play offs
, Newcastle maybe a distorted example but there's a chance they're gonna push 50m expendature and thats less than 80m they will receive, 50m so far and an expected 35m for Sissoko.. Utter madness, Spending in the Championship I imagine will overtake Ligue 1.

    God this is depressing.

Anyway, Morsy would be a great addition, Could be one where geography works in our favour, Id imagine he must be settled in and around the Midlands

We could offer 100,000 plus Woolford and Coutts

Could it be that ex-Chessie Paul Mitchell has an influence in persuading Morsy to come?

It should only give us a better chance.

Don't think our interest in him is a coincidence either, Mitchell will've probably found him for Chesterfield in the first place.

Fleck and Morsy, with Duffy and Done wide? Scougs just in front?

    Is Clough back?

Morsy's quite short but physically he's stronger than most midfielders. Aggressive too. You've got to make sacrifices based on budget and what's available, especially in the lower leagues, in this case we'd be sacrificing height in midfield. But we'd be much stronger. Got to sign a player like Morsy when you've got the chance.

No he didn't Mitchell was at Chessy a yr, Morsy signed in 2012 I think. Why would Wigan sell him at a loss 6 months after signing him. This makes little to no sense. Good player mind although midget midfield wont win many headers and we will struggle again both ends at set pieces

Was he only there for a year or was he only the head of recruitment for a year? In any case, he'll obviously know all about Morsy.

Wigan have quite a few options in midfield and have just signed Alex Gilbey and Nick Powell. Apparently they might be having a bit of a clear out. Morsy won't be guaranteed first team football, he could be the one pushing for the move. He has been interested in signing for us in the past apparently. Don't think they'd be making much of a loss if they sell for 200k either.

If we had a small midfield I'd be tempted to move Basham to right back. Especially if Clarke's not the type to defend set pieces.

Pretty sure just there a year, been around local scene for a long time and knows the game locally very well. My doubt is can he do a full job nationally and internationally, maybe he has just a remit of looking for local talent. There is quite a bit out there Adams is proof of that. Time will tell, He cant do any worse than his predecessors
