    Damien Johnson and the Under-23s

I'm always impressed by Johnson's approach and comments. He makes it clear that there is a massive gap between youth-football and the Championship. In fact, he underlined, after the Notts County game, how it is even a big step up to Division Two opposition. He repeatedly emphasises the need for the young players to focus on how hard it to bridge those gaps.
We know Raya will make it, and it sounds as if Mahoney will feature regularly in the match-day squad from now on.
I like the fact that Johnson doesn't over-rate these players. He definitely concentrates on the need to keep their feet on the ground.
I wonder how many of them will have established a regular place by the end of the season.
(Just to be provocative, I'll add that Mahoney is another shrewd Bowyer signing!)

Nothing wrong with being provocative, as it's a forum !
I agree, I do myself like how Damien 'carries himself' and for me offers indications that there's maybe a manager in there.
Just like I feel/felt that JL has/had the potential of captain material.
    We'll see pretty soon now.
