Italy will also be lucky to have eleven me on the field at the end of the game.

Italy had a great chance to score. Got into the box, had an aftacker on the back post. De Gea committed to the man with the ball, back post wide open. Pass just chipped too far

Isco is quality, another finish that gave Buffon no chance, 2-0.

That should be it. No way Italy gets 2. Would take a miracle for Spain not to top the group considering. Italy facing a playoff in November

Not too sure there, I agree with Sherwood. The Buffon of yesteryear would have probably got to that. He is, quite naturally, starting to look old. Yes is was a good free kick but it wasn't unsaveable.

On a side note, good to see Jacqui Oatley presenting the game, a good old Wolvo girl

I agree that Buffon of yesteryear has a good chance at that. But Buffon of yesteryear was the best keeper in the world for a decade. I De Gea and maybe 2-3 others may have gotten to it. But average to above average keeper (which is what GiGi is at this point) don't get to it.

Ironic how De Gea saved a similar chance (open play) and smothered it like the ball had glue on it.

Gigi was the best goalkeeper and just as important, a great ambassador, sportsman, you name it.

    Time to let go now.

    1-0 down already.

Southgate did say he wanted a fast start

A wake up call for England, a good control and finish from Lobotka. England punished.

F*kin dreadful start, what are they playing at!!.
Maybe Slovakia didn't just come to hang on for a lucky draw eh, which most people were suggesting.
