    William Telfer Queens 1960-61

What are the stats for the former centre half at Palmerston?

    21 League appearances apparently?

Probably more than 21 League matches to include cup appearances too.

    Thanks for that.

Have you any info on Willie Hunter's management record at Queens in his 4 months in charge 1978-79, another former Motherwell player, like Telfer.

I shall always associate Willie Telfer with St Mirren. He was an old-fashioned stopper centre half who thought he was a footballer. In the twilight of his playing career he went from St Mirren to Rangers when Rangers had a bit of a crisis; then to Queens; and finally to Hamilton Accies. Was he not a slaughterman by trade? That thought is lurking somewhere at the back of my mind. According to Wikipedia he played 322 league games for the Buddies, 69 for Rangers, 21 for Queens and 28 for Hamilton Accies.

My Dad went to his first Rangers game and Willie Telfer was playing vs. St Mirren. My Papa was a Partick fan but went along to please him.

He wasn't aware that Telfer had been at Love Street.
