    Ftivano or anyone else ?

One of the adverts in the programme from 77-8 mentions The Palmerston Bar on Terregles Street. Where abouts on Terregles Street was that mate ? Just interested

Would it not be the Palmerston Hotel that burned down to be replaced by Sliquors then The Driveway.Opposite Border cars where Simpson gardens is now.

I think it is what is called the Social Club at Palmy nowadays which was an ordinary pub for years Ches' mum was behind the
bar upstairs and they had entertainment on at the weekends, dominoe teams etc. I drank there regularly after games with JR and his dad Charlie and also big Whoosh AKA Dougie Mills and his old man. The players mixed with the fans in those days but if my memory serves me right it was, if not stopped, certainly frowned upon when Dick Shaw was secretary.

I remember being in the Driveway . Seen two women fight in there ( late 80's) and they were like ferocious wild animals. After a fair old scrap , they both finally lay on the ground with their fingers wrapped around each others long hair , refusing to let go. I should have bottled this never say die spirit at the time and gave it to the national team to drink before the game.
