The 3 - 0 loss to Swindon proved to be Russell Slade's last game in charge as Charlton Manager. His successor is yet to be appointed but the caretaker Manager Kevin Nugent got off to a winning start with this Home win against Port Vale.

Charlton's goals were scored by Josh Magennis with a well placed header on 30 minutes and Nicky Ajose made it two goals just before half time on 44 minutes beating Alnwick the Vale goal keeper one-on-one.
