Fantastic win and a great away performance.......credit where credit is due and I won't lie I didn't see that result coming! Now the hard bit.......to follow it up with a "like for like" home performance against Stevenage. Would be nice to see a rocking FP and the team gelling to gain the three points.........and finally get this Club moving in the right direction! Over to you Cookie and Co.......

Wishful thinking......getting fed up with the "same old, same old" dished up at the Park. One step forward, two steps backwards.....unbelievably we are still fourth in the table so as cookie normally states "it's onto the next game".

    Today's game observations.....

Stevenage didn't threaten us at all in the first half and we looked "comfortable" without really looking like scoring.....aside Bennett's shot that struck the post and a header that he weakly put into the goalies arms! Smithy alone up top worked hard and in my opinion seemed to be too isolated and was trying to hard......personally glad he scored as it should keep him out of the firing line this week as he also worked his socks off. Reports from the Park and express fm on the drive home indicated both Burgess and Doyle's substitutions were brought about because of some verbals and punches thrown during the half time break......whether it was between the two of them or someone else has not been confirmed.......one thing for sure it affected the teams performance and ultimately affected the result. Hopefully it will be sorted out and quickly.......
As for Stevenage.....fair play to them they worked hard and took advantage of our "weaknesses" and charity...... Happy Christmas I think they enjoyed their presents!

There definitely was an "incident" at half time, Cook admitted it afterwards, which led to the 2, for me, surprise substitutions. I would imagine a club fine will be in order at the very least, before moving on to Grimsby. I can't for the love of me see this lot getting automatic promotion. 3 league defeats at home out of the last 4 matches sums us up sadly. I felt sorry for Smith, he was isolated while being manhandled all afternoon, that being overlooked apart from 1 free kick awarded against their central defenders, by a far too lenient Referee. That doesn't excuse our shocking 5 minutes of defending and not for the first time under Cook's tenure I have left Fratton pretty peed off.
