It is hard to believe that St.Mirren had to wait till Dec to notch their first league win of the season, as has been said they looked a quick and skillful side.
Too many people are too quick in blaming the players, for me it is all down to having a small squad (even before injuries to Tapping, Hilson and Jacobs).
At start of season everything clicked into place, a settled team playing with confidence and lifted by the signing and performances of Stephen Dobbie. We were scoring goals for fun and looked solid defensively.
After the stuffing was knocked out of our sails at Ibrox and the home defeat to Morton the confidence started to go. Then players picked up injuries and in a few games there were 4 or 5 players who were carrying knocks and not 100% fit, if we had 4 or 5 more senior players in the squad then these players would have had time to recover.
Every game you can look at the team sheet and it is 90% filled with youngsters. There are some decent lads there including Brotherston, Moxon, Bell etc but when they come on during a game its either because someone has to come off injured or we are behind and needing to look for a way back into the match. These youngsters are put under a lot of pressure to perform and its unfair on them to be expected to turn games round. In an ideal world they would come on when we have games won or are in full control and enjoy the experience.
Watched young Jake Pickard closely over the last few weeks and he certainly has potential but some people expect too much, would love to see him out on loan for the rest of the season to allow him to develop.
Much the same could be said about the other youngsters but with the squad size we have they are needed to step up to the plate sooner than is ideal.
Its all about steadying the ship now for our new Manager and I am sure he can clearly see where we need to strengthen and it looks like he will get the chance in the next window to bring in a few new faces.
Players who performed well in the first few months of the season do not suddenly turn into bad players and I am sure they will pick up and performances will improve.
It was very noticeable on Sat v Dumbarton that confidence was low with so many pass backs to the keeper where earlier in the season they would have been looking to play a forward ball.
The players are certainly still giving 100% and our luck will change.
I meant that our bench is full of youngsters, not the starting 11.

Great post Musky. We need the hardcore fans (ie us ) to rally round our precious club, the new boss and the team itself in this trying time. Queen of the South are far too important for anything else . Let the team know we are with them .
