Well thats been the story of recent seasons, but surely one day we will fluke promotion?

As you say, for a club like ours to generally be in with a shout of promotion until virtually the last kick of the season is good, better than forest fans have had in recent memory thats for sure!

I hope we do fluke it soon Swale. If not only for some of the aged posters on here like chilli (and awks), it'd be nice for them to see Derby back in the top division again one last time. It'd have to be that though, a QPR style fluke (or going back some a derby v west brom style fluke)

So taking this game a little further...should we make it to the 'promised land'...would we make a better fist of things than the last debacle...and - yes I know I'm getting ridiculously far ahead of myself - would McClaren be the man to keep Derby in the top flight?

You're right, he did. I wasn't suggesting one way or the other...just asking the question (about five months prematurely).

A club like ours is a top level championship side but nothing more unfortunatly. I actually don't mind it in the Championship, in the prem we'd just be there to make up the numbers, being in the top 6 in the championship and actually winning games and knowing we have a chance of winning matches is better than the alt, which is turning up in hope and knowing your in a dog fight season after season.

I say let the big 5 or 6 p*** off to their Euro fantasy league and we can have a proper competitive championship chase again, where money doesn't decide the outcome.

I'm not sure Southampton, West Brom, Stoke, Bournemouth or, of course, Leicester see it like that and we're at least as big as all of them.

Don't forget Swansea, palace and Watford. We should be better than any of those teams. That's virtually half of the premier league. Are you sure you're not a red dog, DCFC?

Quite right Ram59. In fact I reckon there are no more than nine Premiership clubs who are definitely bigger or have more potential than us and only two or three (Newcastle, Villa and possibly Leeds) in the Championship.
