It's exactly as Triz says above...either that or part exchange...but give credit where it's due, Grant has done well and appears to be an excellent professional.
Massive LIKE, i seem to remember a certain poster calling him a clown and then not liking it when i called him out for posting that, some of the utter crap posted about players is unbelievable, the guy is and has been for us a very good keeper, but Carson has made the No 1 jersey his own and we should take a reasonable fee and move on.

The trouble is with taking a reasonable fee and moving on, if Carson gets injured at the beginning of February, we're stuck with Mitchell and a.n. other for the run in.

Everyone are talking about having cover for every other position on the pitch, but we're willing to leave the most important position to a novice, who has not played 1 league game.

Unusual for Ram and I to be in such public agreement twice in a few days but...I agree totally. Last year I think Carson was sidelined with a back injury for a month or so. If that, or some other finger injury or suchlike, were to happen again I'd be worried. Mitchell may be one for the future but is he good enough for the pressure a second half of the season promotion push brings? Cash in on Grant if we must but a replacement is essential imo.

Looking like £1.2M is a figure that both side will agree on......

1.2m is a good amount for an average keeper, good piece of business that imo

We've got bigger problems, like Martin the big trouble maker coming back after basically telling Fulham he's not playing for them again.

Except as it stands he isn't coming back, as he has a contract for a season long loan at Fulham, still i guess your acquaintance with the facts has always been tenuous!

If I were Fulham I'd make him stay rather than give Derby a better chance of promotion..... suppose it's a case of if they can afford to pay the wages and loan fee....

£1.2m isn't so bad is it? Grant's done well and seems happy at Stoke but I'm not sure anyone would have expected more than £500 - £750k as things stood in the summer. Expectation rose with his Premiership performances but, player exchange apart, I think we're doing reasonably well out of this one.

It appears a permanent deal has been agreed once the January transfer window opens.

The fee for the 33-year-old is £1.5m with £750,000 add-ons, the Derby Telegraph understands.
