Heerenveen

My friend Dennis is a Groningen fan (and professor of something sciencey at Queens University in Belfast).

He DESPISES Heerenveen, a common feeling among actual fitba fans in The Netherlands.

He says that they're one of these manufactured plastic teams, loved by the media, one of these 'family' clubs where fans arrive with teddy bears and such ****e. I hate them on his behalf, as he hates the Tims, Jutes (who Heerenveen seem to resemble most) and Sevco in return.

I have similar arrangements with a Boro fan who despises Newcastle.

It's like a brotherhood of fitba cynicism. New members welcome.

I hope it's a good game and that the teddy bear huggers are on the end of a sound skelping.

Cracker of a game. Two teams with nothing to play for on the same points nae getting relegated or qualifying for Europe. End of season kick about with a last minute VVV equaliser. Good viewing

That doesnt take away from the fact Holland is my favourite country outwith Scotland. The fact ive been to 11 games here in the last 2 years tells you i like it. Got Zwolle v Groningen tonight and im back in two weeks for Twente v Cambuur
