Two ex - Doonhamer players quit

their jobs in football management - Billy (Budgie) McGhie after 13 years at the helm of junior team Clydebank and Derek (Degsy) Townsley after a year in charge at Workington a job he took over when Gavin Skelton moved to Queens.

I definitely seen Townsley play often enough but not sure if seen Billy McGhie too often. I always thought Townsley would move to a higher level and he was fairly successful at Motherwell and Hibernian before going to Gretna.

What I can clearly remember though is the sitter he missed against Falkirk in the Challenge Cup Final up at Motherwell . Our first final and despite the defeat a great day out

If I'm not mistaken, as I'm sure it's been shown time and again in that final's highlights, this chance was near the end of the match and was from around the penalty spot distance from goal.
