I remember a game at Forfar years back where Stevie Mallan was sent off in the first half after an altercation with the linesman. At some point in the second half I'm sure I recall that he was standing near the portakabin dressing rooms and I asked him why he'd been red carded. His reply was "I called the linesman a ****". Maybe someone can remind me when that was and whether I've remembered the story correctly?

I remember Mallan scoring up at Arbroath after 2 minutes, the day Queens won 3-0 in April 1994. Andy Thomson scored the 2 goals in the 2nd half, after only needing the 1 goal to get to 30 goals ahead of Mark Hateley. This was my only visit to Gayfield and I remember the fans jumping over the advertising boards and running behind the goal.

I never did get to see Stevie play, then again I missed out on Andy Thomson and Stephen Dobbie too.

.....on both occasions when Thomson scored, myself included. Those were the days, just like at Forfar, when you could venture to both ends of the ground to stand behind the goals in each half. Another recollection of Gayfield was the bitter wind and going to the "Gents" against the backdrop of the freezing North Sea.

Some great highlights there. Good viewing. I was laughing at the last goal in the snow. That game just wouldn't have been played nowadays.

The high scoring 8-3 Scottish Cup defeat at Station Park, Forfar, featuring David Purdie's first game for Queens and Stevie Mallan, Andy Thomson and Dougie Mills.

The commentator Jock Brown says at the start of the video that Queens had Purdie signed in time to play in the game from Ayr United but knowing him he's probably incorrect. Mallan was just playing in the game. Mills got the first and Thomson the other two goals.
