Disappointing not to take anything from a game we dominated. Some very good goalkeeping by the Annan keeper and some terrible decisions by the referee meant that we dropped three points but with better finishing we could have had the game won well before the end.

About 10 minutes a good move started on the right, the ball then played across to Robby Linn on the left who crossed and Steven Doris controlled the ball, turned and scored. We were well on top and should have had a penalty when Eddie Ferns beat a couple of defenders in the box but was taken down by the Annan keeper. Unbelievably the ref gave a free kick against Ferns.

A few minutes before half time the ref awarded Annan a penalty when Gomes was penalised for apparently taking down an Anna forward in the penalty box although it looked to me like Gomes had pushed the ball away from the Annan player who then collided with Gomes. If Gomes had committed a foul, since he was the last Arbroath player between the Annan forward and goal, why was he not red carded as he had prevented a goal scoring opportunity? Annan equalised from the penalty kick.

Second half and again we dominated but couldn't get another goal. From Annan's first and only corner of the game, needlessly given away, they scored what was to be the winner. Near the end we had a shout for a goal but the ball was stopped on the line by the Annan keeper, pity we didn't have a Russian linesman.

So 3 points dropped although we played well, just couldn't convert our domination into goals and with Forfar continuing their winning run the gap between them and us opens up again. Hard game next week away to Clyde, hope we take something from it.
