    Wolves v Wigan Matchday Thread

    Match Preview

Another home game and three much needed points required. Wolves are slowly looking over their shoulder and defeat tonight could see us dragged into a relegation battle!

We are now the only game in the Championship without a goal (and only one corner)

Seems like we have picked up a little in the last few mins. Anyway, we stand one place above the Villa at the moment on goal difference, so it aint all bad.

I know Lambert's team was a bore when he was at Villa in the Prem. But That's with a team being outmatched in talent for 80% of the matches. You would think we could muster more of an attack against a team in the relegation zone.

I'm afraid that we won't get out of danger til the last few matches of the season. I'd love to get clear sooner so we could see some of the youngsters get some time.

Another dire performance from a Wolves perspective, only two players, Ronan and Enobakhare can hold their heads up high after another defeat. The long ball tactics aimed at a lone striker aren't working, Burn never gave Bodvarsson a sniff in the air. the longer the game went on, and it happens to Wolves quite often, the opposition sneak a winner late on. I could moan about the manner in which Stearman put the ball out for the corner, but it's defending it that's the big problem.

The tempo to Wolves' play is not quick enough, starting with Ikeme, no mad rush to get the ball out to a player wanting it, in the first half his goal-kicks aiming for Doherty, but ball goes out of play. Lee Evans got the moans and groans from the crowd for numerous passes that went to the opposition, but where is the movement in front of him? we don't have any.

Bright Enobakhare and Conor Ronan at least tried to make things happen, the latter when moved to Evans's position at least tried to pass and move. Chances though for wolves throughout the game were limited to Edwards's header, Ronan's decent effort from distance and a chance for Bodvarsson.

The starting line-up is often discussed and i've noticed Lambert mention that Marshall isn't fully fit, we can tell. Hopefully there will be a lot t come from the player once he does reach full fitness, but last night it didn't happen for him.

Wolves in the cup on Saturday whilst quite a few of the championship are playing league games, the gap is closing at the bottom, it's time the players grew a pair.
