Agreed. There are more well off pensioners (% wise) than well off working age people.

I keep harping on aboot this as its so unjust.

We are pricing the next generation of fans oot the game and the adult price is at another tipping point for a guid few I wud suggest.

For every pensioner with a sweet local authority / police / civil service pension the are ten worrying about switching the heating on .
I read the report and its skewed by people with 2 or 3 pensions.

This is an aberration which coincided with huge house price rises in England , final salary pensions and before Gordon Brown raped the pensions.

Going forward with the pension age going up and ****e pension schemes the pensioners will be as poverty stricken as the rest of us.

What you going to do means test auld age pensioners before they get the honour to sit and watch the current ****e lol ?

It's not the national convention to give pensioners a discount that's seeing our gates fall it's the abject pish being served up and the complete killing off the Derry by the board.

Does the statistic not say once housing costs are removed? This would make a big difference since younger people are buying their homes and old folk have probably paid off their mortgage.

As i have said before pensioners should get in free
as long as they are over 65. They deserve it after
all the years they have had to pay.

There's not topaz. That's just left wing bull.

Worked in financial services for years and latterly a high street bank, Dundee pensioners ain't any poorer than the rest of the country.

Bank I worked in Dundee was the top area nationally for lump sum investments 7 years on the trot from 2002 to 2009 for the over 60's.

They were queuing oot the door every tax year (Isa season).

Poorest are the young and those with kids generally.

LOL Cheered me up immediately thinking of those teams and comparing them with those of today. Wonder what would happen if we went back to 2 full backs, 3 half backs, 2 wingers 2 inside forwards and 1 centre forward. 2-3-2-3.
That would be something to see

Pensioners 20 a week better off than working families, *******s!
Maybe in some parts of Britain , but not typical of the whole country.
The average working wage is about 510 /week ( if you believe )
I'm sure a lot of people in dundee would like to earn that money

You'd be surprised how many auld anes with tens of thousands in the bank deecom.

Douglas, kirkton, fintry, Whitfield they are there I can assure you and i applaud them for accumulating their wealth, I just dinnae think they shud get in the match cheap at the expense of the young.

You would just end up pricing the auld anes that cannot afford the higher gate price and believe me there would be plenty, the majority of pensioners I know just get by and those without own homes are still paying full rent.Keep the prices the same and reduce the prices for 18 and under is the way forward,we need to try and get youngsters in,that I agree with. What next let the lower paid adults in for the less than those on better wages? Some pensioners are well off can could no doubt easily afford a higher gate price but it would be at the expense of those unable to do so,that is not on as far as I am concerned. We need more fans in not pricing some out.We can harp on about statistics etc but there are loads of pensioners on the breadline.

Only telling you how it was/is lads.

Bank I worked in every third or fourth pensioner I interviewed was very comfortable, not many young anes or those with families were.

Averaged around 2500 interviews per year so not a small sample.

The amount of young anes with 20k plus in the bank cud be counted on one hand, every third or fourth auld and wud have at least that.

Wake up and smell the coffee lads the pricing is wrong.

Stands to reason the older you are the more time u have had to obtain wealth. If the pricing went up for oaps we wud lose some fans, should we not put prices down for young families to try and entice fans rather than lose fans?

Your first sentence is my gripe in a nutshell. They have had time to accumulate their wealth the young anes haven't. Concession prices are back to front.

I wud love for the adult price to go Doon, realistically this ain't gonna happen but we can get more young ones into the ground by offering concessions up to the age of say 21 by increasing the older concessions gradually until they are in line with the adult price.

The adult price really cant take another hike.

We have to get some younger fans or Dens is gonna turn into the fitba club equivalent of the fiveways club.

P.s there will probably be a big hike in oor business rates next year so I wudnae rule oot a hike in adult price but think that wud see us Doon to a killie partick type of home crowd.

If that is the case then they should get all their shopping free from Tescos if they have used Tescos over the years and had to pay for them up to they were 65! It is the youngsters they should let in free if any.

    PS I am a pensioner.
