Your missing the point - Ratty said that the best and more consistent players at the club NOW were those that Clough brought in which clearly isn't the case.
Grant has left the club and Carson is better.
Brayford left under Clough, failed at Cardiff, now at Burton
Forsyth - yes good but injured more than he plays!
Keogh - good, though has question marks
Shackell - Clough got rid, came back after Clough
Barker not here
Buxton - average not at the club
Hendrick - academy player not a Clough acquisition
Bryson - good in parts
Russell - good but not consistent
Ward - not at the club ****e and always injured
Martin - yep good
Eustace - FFS!!!
He isn't at Sheffield Utd, so clearly the club didn't think he was what they wanted and Blades fans tell the same old tale, tedious football and achieving very little - as for whose to say to say if he was still there....pointless argument as he isn't and whose to say Phil brown or darren wassall or Clement would not have got us promoted if left in charge?
I can see your a Clough Jnr fan, fair enough, but I remember those 41/2 years of tedium and the complete change around that McClaren with basically the same players, a breath of fresh air.
I enjoyed three seasons of being in with a chance of promotion until the end of the season yes, I didn't enjoy mid table obscurity for seasons.
As for the £40 plus million spent - don't disagree, the recruitment policy seems crazy to me, can't see any plan and its not got us very far, but then its the owners money, would Clough with those resources have done better? Not on the evidence of the tactics he employed whilst manager at Derby - so yes we haven't progressed very far, but we are in a better place and enjoying better football than we ever did under mr average negative nigel.
Clough's negativity used to get me down. Always talking his team down, even at Sheffield United, when they were the big boys of the division.
His attitude was summed up early in the season after a good start and an awful Villa start. When interviewed, he said that he told his players to enjoy the game at Villa Park because they would never get the chance to play there again. I think his dad would have approached it slightly different.
Given what Zola has done at Birmingham i should think Rowatt is smirking just a little!
I gave up listening to Cloughs after match interviews, it was always some players fault never his when we lost. Still I think he may keep Burton up, some canny loan signings there.
Tues evening gives fans the chance to show their appreciation for a job well done at Derby
',
Might not go quite that far Adi but I'd certainly rather we pasted them and he went home unhappy than basking in the satisfaction of a warm Derby welcome. Can't help thinking it'll be another dodgy night with a winner from Varney though...hope I'm wrong.
Didnt realise Reg was still playing.
Definitely no warm welcome please - but also no negative booing etc. Just ignore him like any other manager
He did ok for us under massive financial constraints. And he essentially built the team that should have gone up in 2014, he just didn't have the man management skills, he needed a decent coach on board. We could do worse than offering him a player recruiting role at the club, if mac stays of course.
Clough might have been a bit negative but with his talent of building squads (and you can't deny his success in that department, its mainly his side that Sheff United are now pushing for autos with, not to mention the team he built here in 2014 and the one he's now got at Burton), And mac who is the better coach it could be a great pairing.
With Clough we wont have to put up with dross like Butterfield, Johnson and bloody NICK BLACKMAN FFS
