Thread: Claret & Amber

    Claret & Amber

We know there are loads of names branded about for our next manager but I do hope the board go for someone that has pulled on the famous claret&amber, someone that knows the club has feelings for the club.....I think Coyle or Nijholt fit the bill but I suppose it will come down to money at the end of the day

That would be nice but we need to ruthless about the selection. We need someone to dig us out of a hole short term and inspire some fight and passion amongst the players in other words a good man manager. Longer term he needs to promote youth. If he can achieve both of those goals then I don't care if he has had any previous connection with us or not.

See your point but I think someone that has played with us would have that desire

The man who takes over doesn't need to have played for us in the past. What he needs is to be a good man manager, tactically aware and had have the stomach for a fight because make no mistake we are in the mire thanks to that clown McGhee and it's going to be a real stuggle to avoid relegation. Having said that I would also like to wish the new manager the best of luck, whoever it may be

What we need is someone who is 100% committed to the task in hand and preferably with experience at this level, at least to take us to the end of the season and keep us up.

I know his name gets mentioned every time we are looking for a manager but just what has Luc Nijholt done to suggest that he is the right man for the job? What are his credentials in management? We have been burned in the past going down the inexperienced route and I don't see a Nijholt appointment being any different to be honest. I'm afraid playing for the club previously isn't enough to justify giving him the managers job.

As for Coyle doubt we'd be able to match his demands and to be quite honest, the last thing we need right now on the back of McGhee is another self important, Celtic loving media darling who would see himself as too good for the club. So Coyle is a no for me as well.

Personally I would be looking at Jimmy Calderwood to the end of the season.

I would settle for Top Cat and Officer Dibble if it kept us up! More seriously, a manager with a record of making the best use of limited raw material - the kind of thing John Lambie and his doos did at Firhill years ago - rather than an Ian Cathro type, would do me meantime. I'm afraid that we've got ourselves into a situation in which a short-term expedient which gets us points is what we need. Our U20s suggest that the future isn't bleak; but we need to make sure that the future is in the top league. See you at Killie.

I'm afraid Alex Ferguson couldn't get us out the mire we are in. we have a team full of inferior players who haven't got the stomach for a fight. What we need is a manager who can get us out of the championship because make no doubt that's where we are heading. The teams around us have started picking up points from difficult games, something we can't do. We will go down the cheap route again because thats the done thing with Motherwell. So for me it's Jim Duffy. He knows the championship inside out.

Don't really care if the next boss has played for us or not so long as he's the right man for the job.

There's no doubt a bit of credit is earned by previous service though - someone like Valikari would probably get a slightly longer grace period to turn things round and a bit less pressure at the start of a poor run but there's no way that should be considered a decisive factor.

To be fair, they couldn't do any worse than that last Muppet ! And, they'll need new work when made redundant in May. I'd hate to think the pair of them will turn to the drink when they get their 'dundy' money and piss it all up against the wall Hope they get decent counselling as they've been great servants to the club over the last decade !! Surely due a testimonial?
