No according to the internet that was February 1956, & according to the net it was the first floodlit football league fixture, The first floodlit match was held 14th October 1878 at Bramall Lane, Sheffield.

Third Lanark now that's a blast from the past. Even the racecourse closed many years ago but the Lanark Silver Bell is still run at Hamilton Park every summer
