Steve McClaren Sacked By Derby County

Another manager/head coach bites the dust. Ten points outside the play-offs and only two wins in the last ten games. I expect to see Gary Rowett heavily linked with the vacancy.

It looks like Gary Rowett could be appointed some time this week and before their game against Forest on Saturday. A big job for Rowett if he does get appointed.

If I were him, I'd have taken the Norwich job. Much more stable organization. Derby have cycled through managers since McClaren left the first time.

But I'd have loved Rowett with Wolves. But we hired Lambert before he was let go by Brum and now other good jobs open before ours. Que sera, sera.

It's a good appointment for Derby, but he needs to get the players on side as quickly as possible. He did an excellent job with Burton and then Blues, but expectation levels at Derby are greater. The owner doesn't mess about when it comes to firing the manager when results are bad.
