It's absolutely P/Ssed it down all day up t'north... Nothing changes.
Might have a few Magners tonight ..
Why do some get all excited about another country's patron saint?
A thread about St Patrick's Day on an England forum. God, the irony.
I hope we thrash the Irish this weekend, as I do with any sport, any country.
No wonder we are walked over as a nation.
I'll apologise on a personal level, be proud of you heritage.
You haven't offended me at all, I'm just sick of the annual "Let's be Irish for a day, wear green and LOOOVVE Guinness for a day, hey my great great grandad had an Irish Setter once, whoah, it is their country after all" brigade.
Some tw@t at work said to me yesterday, "I'm off tomorrow for my yearly Guinness fill."
I asked why, you are English and pubs sell Guinness all year round.
But hey, I'm sure the Irish, Scottish and Welsh will be falling over each other to post on here April 23rd.
My better arf wanted me to go ooot for the craic last night but I flatly refused on the grounds of there being all did hype n all dat.
I do have a great nan who was of the southern side of ireland but the once a year be Irish ting does get me goat to be sure.
St George is celebrated round the world in different ways as St George is not soley of the English what what
All the best for you St P day and I hope it was a great day
Peace ;-)
Redbasie, it wasn't meant in a political/power happy manner.
It was more to do with in a public manner, a suggestion that as a nation we tend to roll over and go with it, St. Patrick's Day being an example. I could go on about St. Georges Day being seen as offensive so we, as a whole, back down in fear, etc, blah, blah, but I won't.
Regarding the invasion of so many nations, surely the vast majority are in the distant past? If we invade these days it tends to be at the request of the USA.
Maybe another example of being walked over as a nation.
