The plan for shops, restaurants etc IF it becomes kosher will be another kick in the baws for Dumfries town centre imo.

Hopefully this reaches fruition unlike other plans that have fell by the wayside over the years - just recently was reading Bill Goldie's book on Queens which featured plans for two new stands at Terregles Street and Portland Road and also a photo of Doonhamer diehards on what was supposed to be the last game on the Portland Road terracing before demolition for a stand started - this was TWELVE years ago.

I too remember the architectural drawings for the two end stands. This would be back in the days when any ambition of top flight football required the all-seater stadiums.

I was at a speech at Birmingham City FC on Wednesday hosted by Andy Street, Ex CEO of John Lewis. He was saying that British town centres have had their day and will soon be a thing of the past. Possibly true with Marks & Spencer recently opening one of their largest stores in the UK in Longbridge on the edge of South West Birmingham.
