    You had to wear toe capped boots because the ball, was that hard it could easily have broken your toes from kicking the dam thing, unlike today's soft footballs that you can get that are considered air floaters.

    Sorry...I knew that...one of the things I am glad to see the back of. The number of older players who now admit to having had blinding headaches after playing is worrying, never seemed to bother McFarland or Roger Davies though.

    Footballers were real men then, they would never show that they were hurt never mind rolling over and over.

    Actually, the last time I saw footballers acting like real men, was in the Olympics with the women's football!

    ... when fans never booed their own team unless they had been TRULY, TRULY awful. When players weren't written of after 5 sub appearances, when you got razored for standing on some stairs trying to block out the smell of piss whilst watching unfit 'blokes' hoofs it long and slip about in the mud. Bananas raining down onto the pitch to encourage the 'coloured' lads Ah good stuff, good stuff
